Eyecare Services

It doesn’t matter how groovy your glasses are if your prescription isn’t right. Or if you have an underlying condition that could be picked up in your exam – such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or neurological disorder – and it gets missed.

That’s why Urban Eyecare is dedicated to providing high-quality, full-service optical medical services.

We take the time to explain any tests or procedures, review our findings, and match our recommendations to your lifestyle – including glasses, contacts, laser vision correction, and even solutions for computer-related vision problems.

We use the latest technology, and when necessary, partner with surgeons and other health care facilities in the area to ensure you get the best possible care. Our doctors have the highest degree of optometry, and are certified to medically manage and treat ocular disease, including:

  • Contact Lens related eye infections

  • Corneal infections⁄scratches

  • Ocular allergies

  • Conjunctivitis (pink eye)

  • Dry Eye Syndrome

  • Macular degeneration

  • Diabetic eye disease

  • Glaucoma

Eye Examinations

The American Optometric Association recommends a complete optical examination every 1-2 years, depending on your age, eye health and occupation.

A thorough examination includes an assessment of visual health, overall eye health, and can even detect systemic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and neurological disorders.

When vision correction is required, options include glasses, contacts and laser vision correction. Your Urban Eyecare physician can help you choose the right option for you, and offer a range of services such as follow-up exams, pre- and post-op care, and frame and lens consultation.

Contact Lenses

Our doctors take contact lens fitting, instruction on proper lens care, and follow-up care very seriously. We stay abreast of the latest developments in contact lens technology, and offer all types of lenses, including disposables, bifocal and colored contacts, and gas permeable lenses.

Even if you’ve been told you are not a candidate for contacts, you might be surprised. Today, patients with dry eye syndrome or high astigmatism power are now able to wear contact lenses.

At Urban Eyecare, we take the time to find the right fit and the best correction possible in lenses.

Laser Vision Correction (LASIK)

Our doctors can help you determine if laser vision correction is right for you. We manage patients throughout the surgery, work closely with the surgeon, and provide both pre- and post-operative care.

We are affiliated with both Kraff Eye Institute and TLC Laser Eye Centers, and can provide referrals to some of the best refractive surgeons nationwide. To learn more about laser vision correction, please visit the following websites: www.tlcvision.com and www.kraffeye.com

OPTOMAP RETINAL EXAM

This cutting-edge technology takes a high-resolution digital image of the back of the eye to evaluate the health of your retina and optic nerve without dilation (no blurry vision or light sensitivity). Optos stores these images in your personal eye health record so we can compare images over time to track any irregularities. This helps to detect eye diseases and other medical conditions such as:

  • Glaucoma

  • Macular degeneration

  • Retinal tears

  • Diabetes

  • High Blood Pressure

A wide field view of the retina is highly recommended by the doctors at Urban Eyecare and is an important part of your comprehensive exam.

Computer-Related Vision Problems

Have you added up how much time you spend staring at a screen lately? Between your computer, your iPad, your smart phone, your Kindle…it can really add up!

Unfortunately, the speed of technology has far outpaced your ability to adapt physically. And your eyes may be paying the price for that gap.

Plus, if you are nearing 40 – or already beyond – you have the added complication of natural age-related changes in your ability to focus on close objects. This problem worsens when your computer screen is out of the field of your bifocals. Vision, neck, and other challenges are compounded, and can cause much pain and suffering.

There’s no need to endure! Urban Eyecare can recommend special lenses that allow you to focus more comfortably on your computer screen, or special tints and coatings that decrease glare and make viewing your screen easier and less fatiguing for your eyes.
